The DisplayPort
is an interface on your computer that allows you to watch digital videos and
online material on an external display. It also supports audio data over the
HDMI cable for transmission so you can transmit video and audio using a single
cable.
This technology is available on monitors and
televisions. It is just like HDMI, you can hook up a source for example your
personal computer to your TV by using a DisplayPort
cable. It transfers both video and audio data in HD for your high-definition TV.
Both traditional and Multi-mode ports, which is often referred to as dual mode,
adds an extra feature that have the ability to transform the DP signals to
other types, including DVI and HDMI by using an adapter.
Identification
You can identify a dual mode or multi mode Displayport with a DP++ sign on old
computers. The logo consists of two plus signs that is a letter "P"
written in white color inside a black color letter "D". However, the
different website formally describes icons for traditional and multi-mode with
the same logo, without using plus signs.
Significance
Because typical DP is not suitable for other signal
forms, you have to use devices that have DP ports if don't have adapter.
However, by purchasing an effective adapter you can connect DisplayPort output with any input
device. The adapter transmits signals from DP to DVI or HDMI, such as if you
buy an active adapter, you won't be able to connect a DisplayPort output to a passive cable. But, dual-mode output
devices have the ability to work with adapter, which can be normally purchase
at lower price.
Considerations
Multi-mode DP
uses a small size, an affordable adapter as the port itself identifies the
connection to a DVI or HDMI cable and swap between transmission modes. The
adapter doesn't transform the signals and is just able to transmitting data one
way. Keep in mind that while DisplayPort
is capable of supporting both video and audio, so make sure the manufacturer
includes audio support. Moreover, DVI only supports video, so you will require
an extra audio cable.
Not only this, the HDMI converter is also provided with a built-in scaler to cater to 2D formats and to enhance video quality.
回复删除To benefit from this, you can either use a remote or push the button.
删除Generally, these 2D to 3D HDMI converter boxes give users an access to scaling and depth modes for 3D viewing.
回复删除Because of the incorporation of remote and button features, you can also flip from one source to another, such as from cable box to Blu-ray player to set-top box, etc.
