How to Select a Good HDMI Cable

Everybody wants to buy a good HDMI cable. But not everyone is aware about the facts that should be considered before getting the one. Due to this, some not so well-informed customers end up buying a cable that does not serve their purpose fully. As a result, they have to replace the whole product. So why ‘buy cheap and pay twice’?

Any of the HDMI cable unless damaged performs really well. So it is not very difficult to buy the right HDMI cable. To make your buying choice easy, I am sharing a few critical points here.

Points to Consider

First, you should know how it really works. HDMI cable sends high quality image and sound streams over a small connector to the connected devices.

Second, HDMI cables are available in 4 various types: 

1. Standard – rated for 720p to 1080i signals.

2. Standard with Ethernet – rated same as standard ones but comes with a wired Ethernet local network connection.

3. High Speed–designed to handle more data at a time and intended for 1080i signals.

4. High Speed with Ethernet–furnished with High Speed capabilities but come with Ethernet support.

One more type that has not been mentioned above is the one used for automobiles. Cable manufacturers are required to clearly specify the type on the cable itself. Besides, sometimes you may also find that cable versions are being mentioned. But don’t worry about this factor as the HDMI licensing organisation doesn’t currently allow manufacturers to put versions on the HDMI Adapter.

Lastly, other factors which again should not be a big issue are the price and the brand names. A $20 worth cable would provide you same picture quality and sound as the one that is priced for $60. After all, the quality of the image is what matters the most.
